To me, tattoos are a beautiful way to show who you are and what matters most to you through art. If the decision were entirely mine, I would probably be covered in ink by now, but for the moment I have four tattoos that mean a great deal to me. Every one of them has a story, and I share all four below.

Below is a rundown of all four pieces, in the order I got them.

Tattoo One: My First, on My Upper Back

This was the very first tattoo I ever got, and it sits on my upper back. I believe I had it done during my freshman year of college. Of all four, this one hurt the most! It carries one of my all-time favorite quotes. One Sunday at church I heard the song Strong Enough by Matthew West, and I fell in love with it because he sang that very line. I was going through a hard season of life at the time, and the song and quote gave me hope.

Tattoo Two: A Simple Symbol of Faith

My second tattoo came on my 19th birthday, and it didn't hurt at all! The design is very simple, but it represents my Christian faith.

Tattoo Three: God Is Greater Than the Highs and the Lows

My third tattoo stands for "God is Greater Than the Highs and the Lows." I had it done in May of 2016, after the heartbreaking loss of a friend. She had the same tattoo on the inside of her left forearm, and I chose to have mine placed in the same spot. It is a daily reminder that God is always with me, no matter what I face.

Tattoo Four: My Favorite So Far

My fourth tattoo is my favorite so far! I got it on my 21st birthday and I love how it turned out. It also features one of my favorite quotes. I firmly believe that time heals all things. This one sits on the inside of my upper right arm.
