Our Las Vegas Engagement Photos
Nick and I are so happy to be back on the blog to share our engagement shoot and everything that went into it. We picked our favorite city, Las Vegas, for the photos — the same spot where we got engaged a few months back and where we hope to get married. Shooting somewhere we love being together just made sense, and because Nevada is ringed by mountains (and I never say no to a mountain view), we chose Red Rock Canyon right before sunset.
A friend pointed us to an incredible photographer, Nichole LeBeau, and she really is wonderful. She helped us find a setting that fit our vision, put us completely at ease, and captured these moments beautifully. We had the best time, and the scenery was simply stunning.

For the session I wore the Casey Jumpsuit from Sugar Love Boutique.

Hi everyone! Today I want to explain why I decided to launch my own blog and what Lifestyle with Lex is really all about. If we have not met yet, I am Alexis, a college student working toward a health and human services degree. My goal is to work with grieving children. Psychology and interior design have also caught my interest, but ultimately my heart is in serving our communities — maybe even opening my own grief center one day. Helping others through grief matters deeply to me, because I have grieved myself and know how much support it takes. ♥︎
I recently got engaged to my handsome fiancé, Nick, and I am a dog mom to a sweet boy named Archer. Those two keep me busy most days, but I also love spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, shopping, eating, working out, creating, and writing. I began this blog simply to write about whatever came to mind. I have always enjoyed turning my thoughts into words, and that is exactly what I wanted when I started. I was going through a hard transition and needed something positive to focus on so I could stay inspired. I was searching for happiness when I launched this blog, and so far it has helped me discover what I am truly passionate about. It has also allowed me to open up and connect with some amazing people.

I landed on lifestyle because I want to help others build the life they want through inspiration. So many people on social media have inspired me. I have learned to cook meals, finish a 30 minute full body workout, and shape my eyebrows — all thanks to social media influencers (important skills, if you ask me!). Along the way I have gathered plenty of lifestyle tips and tricks that I would love to share with you. Fashion, beauty, and travel are all things I love, so lifestyle was the natural choice.
Blogging has not always been easy or natural for me. Fear and anxiety have held me back more than once, and I have spent plenty of time worrying about what other people might think. It has taken several attempts, but I am here, and I am still learning — and that is okay. Blogging makes me happy because it lets me express myself. I have realized how important it is to stay focused on the positive and do what is best for me. The connections I make and the impact I can have through blogging mean far more to me than the worry and doubt. That mindset is why I am here today, with more exciting things planned! 💪
I want this blog to be a positive, fun space full of inspiration for everyone. The more love and kindness we spread online, the better. Creating an online destination where anyone can join in and feel inspired matters to me. Let us come together and talk l i f e s t y l e ☀︎

I am so excited to share this with you all: You•ology, a customizable skincare line you build around your own needs. Not everyone has the same skin type, and I have always struggled to find the one product that works just for me. With You•ology I was able to build a skincare regimen made specifically for my needs. With up to 40,000 possible combinations, you can create your own too. Start by choosing three target boosters to build your own cleanser, serum, day moisturizer, and night cream. Not sure what to pick? Take the skincare quiz to uncover your specific needs. You can build a full regimen or pick up any of these products on their own.

I took the quiz and built my own regimen, Lex•ology, and I have been loving it. Here are the boosters I chose for each product:
- Cleanser: Replenishment booster, Pore diminishing booster, Exfoliating booster. This is everything I look for in a cleanser, and it leaves my skin feeling refreshed and smooth.
- Serum: Firming booster, Brightening booster, Glow booster. This was my favorite product to create because I love anything that keeps my face looking youthful and gives me a natural glow, especially during the gloomy winter months.
- Day Moisturizer: Oil control booster, Pore diminishing booster, Environmental shield booster. I love this light moisturizer for keeping my skin from getting oily throughout the day, and the environmental shield helps protect and nourish my skin.
- Night Cream: Replenishment booster, Hydrating booster, Time correcting booster. Give me all of the hydration! My skin tends to get dry in winter, and this night cream keeps it hydrated without being oily while I sleep.
How it works: mix the three boosters into each base product and you are done. Work it into your daily skincare routine. I noticed a difference within one week of using Lex•ology.

I have been away from the blog this summer after a huge loss in my family, and now I am back to share the experience with you all. Grieving is not easy. It is an indescribable process with no limit on time or pain. I have grieved before, which is what led me to my passion for working with grieving children and teens. I have seen how grief affects people physically, mentally, and emotionally, and I understand the mark it leaves on a person for the rest of their life. It is not an easy process, and everyone grieves in their own way, but we have to keep moving forward.
I lost my grandma suddenly on June 2nd, 2018. I was driving home from a short trip to Chicago when my dad called with the news. My first reaction was shock and confusion. I had just spoken with her a week earlier on her birthday, told her I loved her, and promised to call soon to plan a lunch date. It simply did not make sense. Once I found out, I rushed over with my family to say our goodbyes, and that was very hard. My grandma was the root of our family, and without her, what now?
As I said, I have grieved before, but I had never been through the funeral process until now. If you have been through it, you know how fast everything happens. With my grandma passing so suddenly, there were so many changes and decisions to make. My mind was not ready for any of it, but it happened. It became my new reality. During that time I felt like I was shutting down emotionally and mentally. My mind was blocked, and all I could think about was my grandma. What more could I have said to her? Why did I not spend enough time with her? I thought about her missing other life events, like my college graduation or my wedding. I was not only grieving myself — I knew I needed to be strong and be there for my family, who were grieving too. These past two months I have focused on surrounding myself with support.
