My Tattoo Collection: Four Pieces of Personal Meaning
To me, tattoos are a beautiful way to show who you are or what you hold close through art. If it were entirely up to me, I would probably be covered in ink by now, but for the moment I have four tattoos that mean a great deal to me. Each one has its own story, and below I share all four.
Tattoo One: My First, on My Upper Back
This was the very first tattoo I ever got, and it sits on my upper back. I believe I had it done during my freshman year of college. Out of all four, this one hurt the most! It carries one of my all-time favorite quotes. One Sunday at church I heard the song Strong Enough by Matthew West, and I fell in love with it because he sang that very line. I was going through a hard season of life at the time, and the song and quote gave me hope.
Tattoo Two: A Simple Symbol of Faith
I got my second tattoo on my 19th birthday, and it didn't hurt at all! The design is very simple, but it stands for my Christian faith.
Tattoo Three: God Is Greater Than the Highs and the Lows
My third tattoo represents "God is Greater Than the Highs and the Lows." I had it done in May of 2016, after the heartbreaking loss of a friend. She had the same tattoo on the inside of her left forearm, and I chose to have mine placed in the same spot. It is a daily reminder that God is always with me, no matter what I face.
Tattoo Four: My Favorite So Far
My fourth tattoo is my favorite so far! I got it on my 21st birthday and I love how it turned out. It also features one of my favorite quotes. I firmly believe that time heals all things. This one sits on the inside of my upper right arm.

My advice is to choose a design that means something to you, since every one of my four tattoos ties back to a moment, a person, or a belief I hold dear. Placement matters too, and I picked spots that let me see or feel each piece every day.
